Author and Guest Speaker

Having experienced a varied and totally unique 30yr career in the police service, that will never ever be replicated, David will be publishing his first book very shortly. It will literally cover the ups and downs of a police career that took him across the whole of the United Kingdom and further afield to Jamaica. The book outlines how David found himself flying, training and managing a highly successful and motivated team of a county based police air support unit in the Midlands to then managing the busiest air base in the United Kingdom, in London. From attending school events to flying with President Obama, the Westminster Bridge terrorist attack and Notting Hill Carnival the book will provide the reader with a unique insight of policing and police air support.

As well as the highs of policing the book also outlines the darker side of police work, not from a public orientated perspective, but from an internal workplace bullying toxic one. David’s last three years of service should have been a time of celebration and enjoyment with the colleagues he admired and respected and had made such a positive difference to the people and communities that they policed. Unfortunately those last three years were dogged by a bullying and toxic culture which resulted in periods of darkness, whistleblowing and counselling for the mental health problems that resulted.

David was lucky to have been able to contextualise the situation that he found himself embroiled in, to forgive, heal and most importantly move on. This came through the innovative use of psychometrics which provided him with a deeper self-awareness and understanding of himself and of those around him.

David has been a guest speaker at numerous events over the years ranging from local interest groups to international conferences such as the Waypoint, Airmed Rescue Conference and the Shepard Police Aviation Conference at Olympia, London.

Talks can be easily be aligned to your own specific needs and can contain rare and unique insights into the world of policing, police aviation and workplace bullying, all presented with a dash of humour.
